Prof. Hugo Receives Simão Mathias Medal

During the 49th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ), held in 2026, Prof. Hugo Gallardo delivered the opening lecture, entitled “Contributions of Chemistry to the Science of Liquid Crystals: From Molecular Design to Applications.” The lecture highlighted the role of Chemistry in the development of liquid crystal science, from molecular design to its diverse applications.

Following the lecture, Prof. Gallardo was honored with the Simão Mathias Medal, one of the most prestigious distinctions awarded by the SBQ. The medal recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of Chemistry in Brazil and have played a significant role in strengthening the national chemical community.
